We do get a lot of demand for sponsoring - it would be tempting to say "yes" almost every time, because we know that an IRIDIUM, THURAYA or BGAN can make an expedition so much safer, but financially it is obviously not possible to accept every request.

Our criteria is perhaps "selfish" - the projects that we accept to sponsor must be special and go beyond what has been done before. Our contribution is small as compared to the significance of some of the projects. It is sometimes the person that is special sometimes it is the magnitude and audacity of the project - when the come together you have the synergy that make it so truly special!

Organisations, expeditions and projects that we are proud to sponsor - for a valid reason... are (in no order of priority):

Mike Horn’s Philosophy

Today the world is striving to find a solution...a solution for global warming and the creation of a sustainable future for the planet. The world and its elements are Mike Horn’s playground, his life blood and his passion. He too, would like to find a solution for this global problem.

Caring for our life source should be a priority to everyone that benefits from it. The problem today is that we are losing contact with nature, forgetting its beauty and most importantly, losing hope.

We must now accept our responsibilities and by working together with hard work, ingenuity, drive and courage, we can complement each other and find new energy of hope and ambition.

Together we can tap the world’s most powerful energy source – the younger generation.”

Xavier Rosset

Xavier spent 300 days (and nights...) alone on an island called Tofua, situated in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, in the Archipelago of Tonga.

Not totally alone towards the end he found a friend ... a small black pig!

We don'd know if he forgot something on Tofua ... but wiht three friends he went back for some weeks in June of this year!

Sarah Marquise

I’m going to cross Mongolia, China, northern India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar on foot to meet up with the Mekong River banks in Laos. I will then set out down the river in a dugout and end up in the sea at the southern extremity of Vietnam.

My feet will touch land again in Borneo from where I will head to northern Australia. Then one last 3'000 km effort across the Australian deserts will be necessary to reach Australia’s southern extremity.

Point of arrival... after 24 month walking... a specific place where the sandy desert ends and where the ocean begins: «Nullarbor plain». There is a tree and nothing else in all directions, barren and real. I took note of this GPS coordinate several years ago and promised myself I would return some day...

It will take a lot of seasons, sand, wind, humidity, cold, heat, altitude, jungles, deserts, and mountains to get to my little tree...

I invite you to follow my preparations and my adventure... and who knows, maybe replenish me along the way?

First around the world with solar energy

To sail around the world is a fantastic experience - to circumvent the world under power is also an experience but to be the first around the world powered by solar energy is a great experience!

“This is, in my opinion, not only, a remarkable navigational experience but at the same time taking some of our ecological ideas and turning them into reality!” said John Svalander owner of Marine Electronic SA.

“Are we proud to be onboard, to be a small contributor to this leapfrog of technology? Of course we are!”  Providing the satellite communication solution is a challenge. Not only voice and data communication but also a satellite tracker that will report the progress of PlanerSolar directly to your computer screen! From the departure you will be able to follow the progress right here because in addition to IRIDIUM and FBB we have supplied PLANETSOLAR with a YellowBrick tracker.
